Entry Criteria:
All students are required to have a level of written and oral English equivalent to NCEA level 1 (year 11) or IELTS 5.5 or higher, to be eligible to attend our courses. The person responsible for making bookings or authorising attendance on the course must agree to these Terms and Conditions prior to acceptance of their student(s) onto the course. Where a student does not meet our English language requirement a reader/writer must be supplied by the student or the person responsible for authorising the student’s attendance. The reader/writer cannot be another student attending the same course.

Health & Safety Rep Stage 2 develops practical workplace health and safety knowledge in risk assessment, health and safety requirements and incident investigation. The course is designed to strengthen the skills used to identify and assess workplace risks and understand how health and safety incidents are investigated.

Workplace health and safety risk assessment involves identifying hazards and considering the risks they create so appropriate controls can be applied. Health & Safety Rep Stage 2 develops learners' knowledge of risk assessment principles and their application to a job role through NZQA Unit Standard 30265.
A hazard is something that can cause harm, while risk relates to the likelihood and consequences of that harm occurring. Understanding this distinction is fundamental to effective workplace risk management and helps workers and HSRs make better decisions about appropriate controls.
A workplace health and safety incident investigation examines what happened and the circumstances surrounding an incident so contributing factors can be understood and improvements identified. Stage 2 includes learning focused specifically on producing an occupational health and safety incident investigation through Unit Standard 17601.
Incident investigation helps organisations learn from workplace events and identify factors that may need to be addressed. A well-conducted investigation can support stronger risk management and help prevent similar health and safety incidents from occurring again.
