Isolations (lockout tagout) Online

This online course equips you with the knowledge to identify when isolation procedures are required and how to correctly lock out or reinstate machinery. Through interactive digital exercises, you'll work through multiple tag out and lockout scenarios to reinforce your understanding and practical skill application.

To meet Consent to Assess requirements for the unit standards covered in this course, Safety 'n Action has had this course pre-moderated and approved by Industry Skills Boards (ISBs), our standard setting body.

Please note: Learners must have a minimum of 3 months relevant industry work experience before enrolling in this course.

Note: Practical Verification Confirmation required before unit standard can be awarded.

After successfully completing the online learning and assessment, learners are required to complete a practical assessment under the supervision of an appropriately qualified person.

The supervisor must observe the learner safely isolating and reinstating a machine or piece of equipment and confirm that all required documentation has been completed in accordance with the organisation's lockout/tagout procedures.

Safety 'n Action can provide a Practical Assessment Verification Form for the appropriately qualified person to complete and sign, confirming that the learner has successfully demonstrated the required practical skills and met the assessment requirements.

If your organisation does not have an appropriately qualified person available to supervise and verify the practical assessment, Safety 'n Action can provide a qualified assessor to conduct the assessment at your workplace. Additional charges may apply.

Note: An appropriately qualified person is someone who is familiar with your organisation's lockout/tagout procedures and is authorised to oversee isolation activities. This person should typically be a supervisor, permit issuer, or another competent person who holds NZQA Unit Standard 17590 or NZQA Unit Standard 25043.

Entry Criteria:

1. All students are required to have a level of written and oral English equivalent to NCEA level 1 (year 11) or IELTS 5.5 or higher, to be eligible to attend our courses. The person responsible for making bookings or authorising attendance on the course must agree to these Terms and Conditions prior to acceptance of their student(s) onto the course. Where a student does not meet our English language requirement a reader/writer must be supplied by the student or the person responsible for authorising the student’s attendance. The reader/writer cannot be another student attending the same course.
