Understand the requirements for supervising the removal of non-friable (Class B) Asbestos.

This course is aimed at Class B Asbestos removalists and supervisors who need to attend training to transition to meet the new licensing and training requirements to retain competency. It is essential that those involved with licensed asbestos removal work are compliant and knowledgeable of current legislation and the Approved Code of Practice to remove asbestos safely to reduce the risks of exposure and release of asbestos fibres.

Key Learning Outcomes:

  1. Develop knowledge of the relevant Acts, legislation and supporting documentation applicable to the safe removal of non-friable asbestos
  2. Understand safety procedures and processes required to ensure a safe system of work to carry out non-friable asbestos removal
  3. Understand how to identify and manage risks and hazards associated with the removal of non-friable asbestos and put in place appropriate control measures
  4. Develop leadership skills to support team members and oversee removal process, waste containment and decontamination
  5. Supervise testing and safety of work site to ensure compliance with legislation


  1. One year’s industry experience working with non-friable asbestos removal
  2. Demonstrated experience, skills and knowledge in Health and Safety in the construction or trades professions
  3. Completion of workplace attestation to verify skills and work experience

Entry Criteria:

  1. All students are required to have a level of written and oral English equivalent to NCEA level 1 (year 11) or IELTS 5.5 or higher, to be eligible to attend our courses. The person responsible for making bookings or authorising attendance on the course must agree to these Terms and Conditions prior to acceptance of their student(s) onto the course. Where a student does not meet our English language requirement a reader/writer must be supplied by the student or the person responsible for authorising the student’s attendance. The reader/writer cannot be another student attending the same course.
