Health & Safety Trainer Vacancies

  • Health & Safety Trainer West Auckland (Full Time)

    Locations: West Auckland

    Safety ‘n Action is seeking professional safety trainers to keep up with the industry growth.  Our trainers are highly experienced and practical people. They all have a shared passion in providing their students with the knowledge and tools needed to incorporate sound safety practices into everyday decisions and activities.

    This role is training adults and high school aged children.

    A Health and Safety Trainer is required to undertake advisory services and deliver health and safety training of a high standard to our customers.  They are also required to undertake necessary administrative duties, including processing training related documentation such as evaluations and assessments. Trainers are provided with set target. This role will be delivering training materials online as well as paper.


    Eligibility Criteria:

    • Solid understanding of New Zealand Health & Safety legislation
    • Background in a formal trade, manufacturing, armed or emergency services would be desirable
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Experience in classroom training delivery, particularly in fire safety, heights, confined spaces and MEWP
    • Confident to deliver digital based training materials
    • Working toward or holding NZQA assessment qualification (US4098)

  • Health & Safety Trainer Dunedin (Full Time)

    Location: Dunedin

    Safety ‘n Action are looking for an experienced Health & Safety Trainer to join our Dunedin team.

    This role is ideal for someone with strong practical safety experience who enjoys working with people and delivering hands-on training that helps workers stay safe on the job. You’ll deliver workplace safety programmes to organisations and individuals across the Dunedin region, helping build the skills and confidence that support safer workplaces.

    You’ll be part of a small local team supporting organisations in the region, while also being backed by a nationwide training organisation with established systems, resources, and expertise. Safety ‘n Action and Axiom Training have been raising the standard of workplace safety across New Zealand for nearly three decades, delivering practical training that makes a real difference in workplaces every day.

    Eligibility Criteria
    You'll ideally bring:

    • Experience delivering Health & Safety training
    • A solid understanding of New Zealand Health & Safety legislation
    • Experience in areas such as working at height, confined space training, MEWP, first aid and fire training
    • Strong communication and presentation skills
    • NZQA Unit Standard 4098
    • A Health & Safety qualification (preferred)
    • Practical industry experience (construction, manufacturing, trades, emergency services, or military environments)

    Location: Auckland

    We are looking for experienced Contract Trainers to deliver Health & Safety and/or First Aid programmes across Auckland.

    This role is ideal for a confident, hands-on trainer who enjoys stepping in, getting started quickly, and delivering practical, engaging health and safety training that makes a real difference on site and in the classroom.

    You’ll be delivering face-to-face training to adult and high school-aged learners, working alongside a supportive and experienced team who are passionate about raising safety standards across New Zealand workplaces.

    As a Contract Health & Safety Trainer, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality training, as well as completing essential training-related administration such as assessments and course documentation. This role is practical, people-focused, and suited to someone who is comfortable taking the lead in a training environment.

    What we're looking for:

    • Proven experience delivering First Aid and/or H&S training
    • Strong industry background (construction, trades, manufacturing, emergency services)
    • Ability to step in and deliver with confidence
    • Strong communication and facilitation skills
    • Reliable, professional approach For First Aid Trainers (Essential)
    • Current NZ Resuscitation Council Emergency Care Instructor (ECI) certificate
    • Current Pre Hospital Emergency Care (PHEC) certificate

    We’re looking for a contract trainer based in Invercargill who can hit the ground running, delivering engaging, practical Health & Safety and First Aid training across the region.

    You’ll be delivering training that people actually remember — and use.

    From First Aid to workplace safety, you’ll facilitate sessions that are hands-on, relevant, and grounded in real-world scenarios. You’ll adapt your approach to suit different industries and learners, creating an environment where people feel confident to participate and apply what they learn.

    This is not an entry-level training role.

    We’re looking for someone who already has experience delivering Health & Safety and/or First Aid training and can step in with confidence from day one.

    You’ll need to be comfortable leading groups, thinking on your feet, and making training engaging — not just compliant.

    Eligibility Criteria:
    To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

    • Unit Standards 6400, 6401, 6402, and 4098 (or an equivalent adult education qualification)
    • A current Pre-Hospital Emergency Care (PHEC) certificate
    • A current Emergency Care Instructor (ECI) qualification
    • Proven experience delivering Health & Safety and/or First Aid training
    • A full driver’s licence and willingness to travel locally
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage a wide range of learners
