Learn the ropes of safe truck loader crane operation.

Overview

This hands-on course introduces learners to the safe and effective use of truck loader cranes. It’s designed for workers who are new to crane operation and want to gain practical experience before completing a full certification course. Participants will learn how to identify key parts of the crane, understand lifting principles, set up for safe operation, and manage simple lifts under supervision.

By the end of the course, learners will have the confidence to carry out basic lifting tasks safely, recognise potential hazards, and follow correct communication and safety procedures. This course provides a solid foundation before progressing to a unit-standard-based qualification.

Please bring along your ID on training day - We need to verify the identity of students in attendance, please bring ID with you on the day of training.

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify the main components and functions of a truck loader crane and its controls.
  • Demonstrate safe pre-use checks, setup, and lifting operations under supervision.
  • Apply safe working practices and communication methods to prevent incidents during crane operations.

Prerequisites:

30072 - Demonstrate and apply knowledge of slinging regular loads safely

Entry Criteria:

All students are required to have a level of written and oral English equivalent to NCEA level 1 (year 11) or IELTS 5.5 or higher, to be eligible to attend our courses. The person responsible for making bookings or authorising attendance on the course must agree to these Terms and Conditions prior to acceptance of their student(s) onto the course. Where a student does not meet our English language requirement a reader/writer must be supplied by the student or the person responsible for authorising the student’s attendance. The reader/writer cannot be another student attending the same course.
