The Class 4 Licence allows you to drive a vehicle 18,000kg and over.
Completing our NZTA approved Class 4 Licence course eliminates the learner licence period of six months.
This includes trucks that have loads like aggregates and fertiliser and other bulk trucks such as concrete mixers, waste, refuse and recycling trucks and much more. Drivers with this class of licence are highly sought after by many companies offering plenty of opportunities for a career pathway to heavy vehicle haulage and Class 5 driving.
This course includes a logbook unit standard (unless you can prove you have sat it with an NZTA approved provider within the last twelve months and we are happy with your current standard) and the Class 4 unit standard 17576, which consists of both theory and practical.
A Class 4 learner licence (4L) must be obtained before the course.
There is no theory test for the Class 4 Learners (4L) but you must meet the criteria. You can apply for your 4L from any NZTA Licensing agent (VTNZ or AA). We will take care of the rest.
Please check the dates on your confirmation letter carefully as we do occasionally need to change the timetable to cater for public holidays and truck and trainer availability.
Please note: The transmission and type of the truck cannot be confirmed due to the nature of our courses and truck availability. We recommend that if you are unfamiliar with driving a Class 4 truck or a manual transmission that you take advantage of additional training lessons prior to the course.
Please contact us to discuss your options, you will need your learner licence prior to being able to undertake practical drive lessons.
Please bring along your ID - We need to verify the identity of students in attendance, please bring ID with you on the day of training.
All students are required to have a level of written and oral English equivalent to NCEA level 1 (year 11) or IELTS 5.5 or higher, to be eligible to attend our courses. The person responsible for making bookings or authorising attendance on the course must agree to these Terms and Conditions prior to acceptance of their student(s) onto the course. Where a student does not meet our English language requirement a reader/writer must be supplied by the student or the person responsible for authorising the student’s attendance. The reader/writer cannot be another student attending the same course.
