Apply height safety equipment safely and effectively in the workplace.

This course provides learners with the knowledge and skills required to employ height safety equipment in the workplace. Aligned to NZQA Unit Standard 25045, participants will identify common height safety equipment, select suitable equipment and anchor points, and use height safety systems in accordance with organisational and legislative requirements.

The course also covers hazard identification and the planning of rescue techniques and emergency procedures for working at height. Successful completion includes formal assessment and leads to the award of NZQA Unit Standard 25045.

Key Learning Outcomes:

  1. Identify the common types of height safety equipment employed on height work in the workplace
  2. Identify suitable height work equipment
  3. Identify suitable anchor points for fall arrest and restraint systems
  4. Employ height safety equipment in the workplace with organisational requirements
  5. Plan rescue techniques and emergency procedures for working at height in the workplace

Entry Criteria:

  1. Students should be capable of demonstrating knowledge of height safety equipment prior to attending this course
  2. All students are required to have a level of written and oral English equivalent to NCEA level 1 (year 11) or IELTS 5.5 or higher, to be eligible to attend our courses. The person responsible for making bookings or authorising attendance on the course must agree to these Terms and Conditions prior to acceptance of their student(s) onto the course. Where a student does not meet our English language requirement a reader/writer must be supplied by the student or the person responsible for authorising the student’s attendance. The reader/writer cannot be another student attending the same course.
