Gain the knowledge that will allow you to enter your first day in the Construction Industry with a solid foundation of information about your Health and Safety responsibilities.
This course will give you an understanding of terminology/signage used on a construction site and how to complete a Risk assessment including JSAs to meet the requirements of the HSWA 2015
Key Learning Outcomes:
- Identify and describe legislative rights and responsibilities for workplace health and safety
- Describe the systems approach to workplace health and safety
- Explain how risks and hazards are defined in the HSWA
- Describe the principles of health and safety risk assessment
- Apply health and safety risk assessment to a job role in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry good practice
- Demonstrate knowledge of the organisation’s health and safety procedures, and apply the organisation’s health and safety procedures under supervision for a building construction site
Entry Criteria:

All students are required to have a level of written and oral English equivalent to NCEA level 1 (year 11) or IELTS 5.5 or higher, to be eligible to attend our courses. The person responsible for making bookings or authorising attendance on the course must agree to these Terms and Conditions prior to acceptance of their student(s) onto the course. Where a student does not meet our English language requirement a reader/writer must be supplied by the student or the person responsible for authorising the student’s attendance. The reader/writer cannot be another student attending the same course.
