This 6 hour refresher course is designed to support forklift operators and workplaces in maintaining compliance with industry certification standards. It covers legislative updates, addresses any skill or knowledge gaps, and reinforces the core focus of driver safety and safe work practices.

Please bring along your ID - We need to verify the identity of students in attendance, please bring ID with you on the day of training

Key Learning Outcomes:

Prerequisites:

  • Has not exceeded refresher period of 3 years and 3 months.

Entry Criteria:

  1. All students are required to have a level of written and oral English equivalent to NCEA level 1 (year 11) or IELTS 5.5 or higher, to be eligible to attend our courses. The person responsible for making bookings or authorising attendance on the course must agree to these Terms and Conditions prior to acceptance of their student(s) onto the course. Where a student does not meet our English language requirement a reader/writer must be supplied by the student or the person responsible for authorising the student’s attendance. The reader/writer cannot be another student attending the same course.

While NZQA unit standards do not technically expire, industry best practice and the Approved Code of Practice for Training Operators and Instructors of Powered Industrial Lift Trucks (Forklifts) 1995 recommends refresher training every three years. Safety 'n Action's Forklift Operator Refresher accepts participants whose previous certification has not exceeded a refresher period of 3 years and 3 months.
A Forklift Operator Refresher is a 6-hour course designed to help experienced forklift operators update their skills, close any knowledge gaps, stay up to date with legislative requirements and maintain compliance with industry certification standards. The course refreshes NZQA Unit Standard 10851 and covers safe forklift operation, pre-operational checks, safe driving skills, environmental hazard awareness and correct park and shutdown procedures.
The Forklift Operator Refresher is suitable for any forklift operator who holds NZQA Unit Standard 10851 and needs to renew their competency within the 3 year and 3 month refresher period. It is commonly required by employers in warehousing, logistics, manufacturing, construction, retail and distribution to maintain workplace compliance and operator safety standards.
If your forklift certification has exceeded the refresher period of 3 years and 3 months, you may no longer be eligible to attend a refresher course and may need to complete the full Forklift Operator course again. Many employers require operators to maintain current certification to comply with health and safety obligations, so it is important to complete refresher training before your competency period lapses.
