This course is often referred to as ‘Train the Trainer’ and is designed for team leaders, supervisors, and workplace coaches who support learning on the job.

Overview

This course leads to NZQA Unit Standard 27565 and is designed for those who deliver informal training and support in the workplace. It’s well suited to team leaders, supervisors, and internal trainers who provide on-the-job guidance and mentorship.

Through a mix of workshop-based learning and workplace application, you’ll build confidence in your ability to support others and contribute to a strong workplace learning culture.

Please bring along your ID - We need to verify the identity of students in attendance, please bring ID with you on the day of training.

Key Learning Outcomes:

Delivered as a one-day workshop, this course includes interactive group activities and practical discussions.

You'll learn to:

What does the assessment entail?

  • Minimal written theory – some answers are completed during the workshop
  • Practical workplace-based component completed after training
  • Portfolio of evidence to be submitted within 12 weeks
  • Organisation attestation required as part of the final submission

Entry Criteria:

All students are required to have a level of written and oral English equivalent to NCEA level 1 (year 11) or IELTS 5.5 or higher, to be eligible to attend our courses. The person responsible for making bookings or authorising attendance on the course must agree to these Terms and Conditions prior to acceptance of their student(s) onto the course. Where a student does not meet our English language requirement a reader/writer must be supplied by the student or the person responsible for authorising the student’s attendance. The reader/writer cannot be another student attending the same course.

    • What is the Train the Trainer course?

      The Train the Trainer course helps team leaders, supervisors, and internal trainers build the skills to guide and support learning in the workplace. It leads to NZQA Unit Standard 27565, a nationally recognised qualification for informal on-the-job training.

      Upon successfully completing this course you will achieve NZQA Unit Standard 27565 - Train Colleagues in the Workplace. This unit is widely used across New Zealand workplaces to recognise those who train and support others on the job.

    • How long does this course take? 

      Training is delivered in a one-day, in-person workshop. Assessment tasks are completed afterward in your workplace, and you have up to 12 weeks to submit your portfolio of evidence.

    • Is this an NZQA-recognised course?

      Yes. This course is fully aligned with NZQA standards and results in the award of Unit Standard 27565.

    • What is included in the assessment?

      The assessment includes short written responses, a practical workplace component, and a final portfolio of evidence. An attestation from your employer is also required.
